Serene Images

Though I'm a dedicated atheist, I have found the image of Buddha helpful in making me feel serene. I have several statues of Buddha in my garden.

I don't know how it works, whether it's the face with the closed eyes, whether it's my knowledge of the commonsense philosophy of Buddhism, whether it's the experiences I have had while traveling in Buddhist countries, I know not! It doesn't really matter.

Keep your eyes peeled for images that make you feel serene and surround yourself with them.

You'll be glad you did.

I've found that chimes are helpful. Their soft tinkling is like music and bird calls help too.

I like candles. The warm glow of the fire calms me. I enjoy music too. I have a CD of Celtic tunes and another of Native American Indian flutes, both of which put me into a wonderful peaceful frame of mind.

I do the same and maybe for the same reasons.....

Yesterday, on NPR radio, I heard the tail end of a show about religion, and heard a snippet about the "tunnel and white light" that people see when they die or appear to.

It seems to be sight shutting down.

It was nice to hear.

Cheers!

Makes one wonder? What is the first thing a baby experiences when coming into the world? Is it white light or is it sound or some feeling?

YOU CAN BE A BUDDHIST AND AN ATHEIST. THERE IS NO GOD IN BUDDHISM. IT'S PRIMARILY A DEEPLY MORAL PHILOSOPHY APPLIED TO DAILY LIVING.
I LOVE THE CORE, SAME TRUTHS OF ALL RELIGIONS..'' LOVE'' IN ESSENCE.
AS A VEGAN I AM ESPECIALLY DRAWN TO JAINISM, WHICH HELPED GANDHIJI TO OUST THE COLONIALISTS FROM MOTHER INDIA.
